What's behind the name?

How we end up with the Marcato name

Hi!

Marcato ('marked' in Italian) is a type of accent found in music notations. It looks like a note wearing a ^ hat!

Like this!

Typically it signals a note or chord to be played louder or more forcefully. It's a bit like a Sforzando. (I greatly simplify of course, There's a whole bunch of accent types in music.)  Sforzando doesn't have a cool hat though.

Like the accent, we hope to make a mark in the industry.  Yes our logo is basically two marcatos! Hehe. You see it? It's also because we are two people - two accents working together!

Speaking of which, we plan to do more educational posts like this related to instruments and accessories. Let me know if you want more (simplified) music theory posts too! Or maybe you have music or instrument related questions, we might be able to answer.
