Hi! We are open!
We are a Malaysian owned business currently focused on growing our offerings in woodwind and brass accessories. (Don't worry, we haven't forgotten about strings and percussions, but we're still starting out and taking it a step at a time!)
How it started
We've been connecting sellers and buyers for a few years now. We saw an uptick in demand from our connections lately who find it difficult to obtain products. Guys, popular products sell out FAST!
Normally we either send them to overseas sellers with stock, or we ask overseas friends to help purchase and bring the items when they visit town.
Being musicians ourselves, we want fast access to products ourselves too! That's when we had a crazy idea to just get the stocks directly - here we are! (Still a work in progress!)
Who we are
We are two people - a saxophonist and a percussionist who have been in the community band and orchestra circuit for over 20 years combined. We not only perform in various bands and orchestras, we also manage one ourselves!
As committee members, we regularly work with and connect with school bands, community bands, and have built a sizeable network of connections with band instructors, various instrument teachers, musicians (both professional and amateur), repair technicians, and instrument sellers.
With all these friends in the industry, we learned a lot about your struggles, and wanted to do something to help!
Why Marcato?
As musicians part of building the community music scene for years, we realised a lot of young or amateur musicians have a common question: "Which accessories do I need?"
We want to help educate musicians on what products are best suited for their skill level, and to help them reach their potential. We might not have all the answers, but we know plenty people smarter than us who do! (Don't worry, we'll track them down and get you answers from professionals.)
